Good Samaritan Hospital Visit . . .

Caitlin broke her wrist when she lost her balance roller skating at
Aloha Skate. This happened on the 21st after 5pm. 911 was called,
SJFD Station 12 responded and took her vitals and an incident report
and she rode in an ambulance to Good Sam. Sean was at work and I
had to drive Jack and Siobhan to the hospital. Paramedic Chris was
telling me the ambulance ride over that Caitlin wasn't crying and
was handling it very well. The picture above was taken at the ER
after she received some pain medication. Dr. Debra Popejoy, the
orthopedic surgeon, told us that Caitlin didn't need any surgery and
that she was going to numb her left hand and push the bone back in
place and then put it in a cast with a sling (we'll find out on the
27th how long she'll be in a cast). We finally got out of the ER
at around 8:30pm. Sean, Caitlin and Jack were suppose to go to the
Sharks game that night but didn't, it was probably a good thing
since the Dallas Stars were doing major damage to the Sharks.
Jack and Siobhan have been great to Caitlin with helping her when
she needs assistance. Sean and I are finding out how challenging
it is to have her showered and not getting the cast wet or even
helping her getting dressed. I was teasing her that this was an
excuse not to work on her book report which is due when they get
back to school. Dr. Popejoy says that she should be able to
write (she's left handed) even though her wrist is broken as her
fingers are fine.
